***JOB ANNOUNCEMENT***

EQUALITY FLORIDA SEEKS UNPAID RESEARCH FELLOW

In the wake of Amendment 2, FL's first statewide referendum on LGBT Floridians, we are given an unprecedented level of data and insight on how the LGBT community is viewed by the general electorate in addition to the voting behaviors of LGBT supporters and protractors.

Equality Florida would like to announce a special position within our Public Policy department for one or two unpaid Research Fellows at the Graduate or Undergraduate level. As part of our internship program, fellows would be asked to commit 20 hours a week for 2 - 3 months and be supervised by the organizations senior staff in the Field and Public Policy departments.

The EQFL Research Fellow work plan would include:

- Precinct and municipal level analysis of Amendment 2 data in targeted FL counties

- Enhancement and manipulation of voter files for the purpose of enhancing our targeting of both progressive and conservative voters in key 2010 races

- Public records requests to municipal and state agencies

- Manipulation of a number of data sources to enhance EQFL's membership, donor, volunteer and voter lists

- Opposition research including messaging, organization and history

Research Fellow applicants should:

- Have some academic or work-related experience in research and data analysis

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word a must)

- Passionate about social justice and the LGBT community

- Familiar with the governmental and electoral processes in Florida

- Campaign or electoral experience preferred (but not required)

Please forward this on to any students who may be interested in one of these positions. Applicants should send a resume and cover letter to [email protected] and include information about scheduling and availability.
