Advocate names Orlando 4th "Gayest" City, points to Policies/Politics

Since LGBT's are not included in the US Census data that's collected every year, The Advocate has developed their own mechanism for determining the "gayest" American cities. This year Orlando made it into the top 5, ranking 4th gayest and Miami came it at 15th gayest city.

Here's an excerpt of what they had to say about Orlando; "Everyone knows that many Disney employees are friends of Dorothy. But now Orlando itself is coming out as a hot spot for gay and lesbian life and a hotbed of progressive attitudes. Last November, when Orange County leaders voted 6-1 to add sexual orientation protections to the private-sector antidiscrimination law, not a single resident or religious organization opposed it."
The Advocate points to the recently past protections for LGBT's in Orange County, a policy worked on by Equality Florida as a member of the Orlando Anti-Discrimination Ordinance Committee. Check out the Advocates article here.
