Senator Nelson Urges Trump Administration Not To Implement Official Discrimination Through Trans Military Ban

Last week, President Trump tweeted that transgender individuals will no longer be able to serve “in any capacity” in the U.S. Military.

The tweets have received backlash from civil rights organizations, active duty and veteran transgender servicemembers, elected officials, and military personnel over the past week.

Yesterday, Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) sent a letter to the Trump Administration urging them not to implement official discrimination through the transgender military ban. We thank the Senator and others who are stepping up and speaking out against this discriminatory and harmful position being communicated by the President (via tweet).

You can read our full statement on the ban here.
