Remembering Civil Rights Activist Julian Bond
"A national treasure, a personal hero, and a friend of Equality Florida has died. Julian Bond's role in the civil rights movement is heroic and indelible. His leadership in moving his organization and the nation in support of marriage and full equality for LGBT people has been relentless.
He was a part-time Floridian living in panhandle a good portion of the year. He served as honorary chair of our Fairness for all Families campaign opposing the 2008 ballot measure (see video bleow). In 2012, he invited me to speak on behalf of Equality Florida on the first LGBT Panel at the NAACP's national conference.
A tremendous loss for us all." - Nadine Smith, Executive Director.
