A message from our new Executive Director, Stratton Pollitzer.
Before anything else, we want to say this clearly: Equality Florida exists because of our dedicated supporters, volunteers, donors, and community members who are the heartbeat of this organization. Every victory we’ve ever won — and every fight we’re ready to take on next — is possible because they show up again and again.
Today, we’re proud to share an important update about the next chapter of this work.
After nearly 30 years helping build Equality Florida from the ground up, Stratton Pollitzer has officially stepped into the role as our next Executive Director.
Stratton isn’t new to this movement — or to this organization. Alongside Nadine Smith, he co-founded Equality Florida in 1997, at a time when LGBTQ Floridians couldn’t marry, couldn’t adopt, had almost no workplace protections, and when transgender Floridians were afforded virtually no protections at all. Equality Florida was born in resistance — and built to win.
Under Stratton’s leadership over the years, together with our community, we’ve helped secure every one of those hard-fought victories.
As you'll hear in his video, this work runs even deeper for Stratton — rooted in generations of social justice activism and a lifelong commitment to fighting for the inclusion of every single beautiful part of this community.
We know the moment we’re in. We know the scale of the attacks we’re facing. And we also know this: Equality Florida was built for moments like this.
Friend, you are part of a movement with history, power, and resilience. You are the reason this organization has endured — and the reason our opponents keep losing. Standing shoulder to shoulder, we’re not just ready for what’s ahead.
We’re ready to win.
