Urgent Action Needed in Tampa Bay

Hillsborough County Commission to Vote on
Non-Discrimination Protections
Tomorrow, the Hillsborough County Commission
will likely vote on an extending non-discrimination protections
to their lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) staff
members. This would be a change to the internal personnel
policy, not an amendment to the county human rights ordinance.

County Commissioner Kevin Beckner is making the request
as part of a policy overhaul by the Commission to create
specific protections against sexual harassment in the workplace.

Let your
county commission know that you support protections for all
county employees!
We need to fill the
inboxes of Commissioners Right Now!

Ask the commission to protect all of their employees from
discrimination and harassment.

In 2009, the Hillsborough
County Commission spent nearly $500,000 in public funds on a
case of alleged sexual harassment against an internal employee.
The judge ruled that the sexually harassment policy was
inadequate to protect employees.

A vote by the
Commission to include LGBT people in their non-discrimination
policy will be is a huge step in the right direction as we look
forward toward the day that all employees in Hillsborough County
share the same protections.
