Leon County Hurman Rights Ordinance Debate Tonight
Equality Florida Board member Jim VanRiper and Steering Committeemember Jeff G. Peters will be among the panelists at a debate tonight on the proposed Leon County Human Rights Ordinance.

Leon County’s proposed human-rights ordinance will be the topic of discussion during The Village Square’s "Take-out Tuesday" forum.
The event is 5:30-7 p.m. tonight at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 211 N. Monroe St. The ordinance would extend protections to members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Panelists include County Commissioners Bryan Desloge and Bob Rackleff; Jim VanRiper, chairman of the county’s human-relations committee and co-chair of The Family Tree; Dennis Murphy, a property-management business owner; and Jeff G. Peters, attorney and business owner who also serves on the human-relations committee.
The ordinance is set for public hearing May 11.
