Nadine Smith to Speak at Carlton Fields - Monday, June 8th

Nadine Smith, executive director for Equality Florida, will be speaking in Tampa (and via video conference firm-wide) on Monday, June 8th to address one of Florida's most prominent law firms, Carlton Fields.

Nadine will talk about the history and current status of state and federal laws regarding workplace discrimination and protection, recognition of LGBT relationships and the Florida statute banning adoption by gay parents.

Nadine Smith has been Executive Director of Equality Florida since its inception in 1997. She served as one of four national co-chairs on the 1993 March on Washington and took part in the historic, first-ever meeting between LGBT leaders and a sitting U.S. president (Bill Clinton) in the White House. During her tenure as head of Equality Florida, Nadine has also served four terms as co-chair of the Equality Federation and as a member of the Democratic National Committee and as Equality Florida’s lead lobbyist in Tallahassee.

Nadine has been recognized for her national and state leadership by organizations around the nation. A former award-winning journalist, Nadine has written syndicated columns for many LGBT and general audience publications, and has been featured in documentary productions on LGBT issues.
