Quinnipiac just released a poll that shows the governor's race in a statistical dead heat. The poll, taken from Oct. 6-10 showed Alex Sink with 44 percent of support from likely voters with Rick Scott showing 45 percent.

Thanks to your help, Dan Gelber cleared the primary election and is now running against Pam Bondi to become Florida's next Attorney General. It is critical we have an Attorney General who fights for fairness and equality, not spend tax payer money on bigotry. On Oct. 21, Equality Florida is hosting a fundraiser in Ft. Note: During the 2008 Amendment 2 campaign, Equality Florida partnered with the NoOn2 Campaign to invest in an outside polling service. The results of that research revealed 77% of Floridians believed same-gender couples deserved at least some legal protections, whether through domestic partnership, civil unions, or full marriage equality. The following Pew Research poll reveals that Americans' attitudes are changing significantly in the direction of full Marriage Equality.

Great news! By a unanimous decision, an appeals court has upheld a Miami judge who ruled that Florida's anti-gay adoption ban is unconstitutional.

This morning the Third District Court of Appeals in Miami, FL upheld a lower court ruling that declared Florida's ban on gay and lesbian adoption to be unconstitutional.

Sunday night we posted a position statement on LGBT issues from Gov. Christ covering a wide range of topics, including: calling for an end to Don't Ask Don't Tell, passage of the Uniting American Families Act and an end to anti-gay adoption laws, among others. Today, in a story from the Palm Beach Post, Gov. Christ states that he's had a change of heart about Florida's horrible law banning gays and lesbians from adopting.

(TALLAHASSEE) Candidates in the most watched U.S. Senate race in the country have made equal rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community a centerpiece of their campaigns this week. Governor Charlie Crist released an LGBT Issue Statement covering a wide range of topics, including: calling for an end to Don't Ask Don't Tell, passage of the Uniting American Families Act and an end to anti-gay adoption laws, among others. Crist statement is the most comperehensive pro-LGBT equality stand of a sitting governor in Florida's history.

Governor Crist and his campaign team reached out to Equality Florida several weeks ago to let us know of their intention to spell out the Governor's positions on federal LGBT issues and to get our input on the most important areas that should be addressed. The resulting official position statements are below. This is the furthest a sitting Florida Governor has ever gone in publicly supporting LGBT issues.Florida Governor Charlie Crist will be publicizing a comprehensive LGBT position paper this week.
