Tampa Bay leaders champion “Equality Means Business” event to improve Florida’s competitiveness on Nov 29th.

-- Thursday, November 29th, Equality Florida has partnered with Tech Data and Florida Blue to host an “Equality Means Business” Luncheon at 11:30am at the Tech Data Headquarters in Clearwater. A panel of business and diversity experts will be featured. With over 100 attendees, the event has gotten an overwhelming response and has reached maximum capacity. 

Elected officials attending include Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Mayor Bill Foster, the mayors of Tampa Bay's largest cities and elected officials from Hillsborough County, Bellair, Tampa, Largo, Gulfport and Oldsmar.

A wide variety of leading employers in the Bay area will also be attending the event including Progressive Insurance, Morgan Stanley, Tampa Bay Technology Forum, Chase, Fifth Third Bank, Universal Health Care Group, Tampa Bay Business Journal, and PNC Bank.

“Economic growth is linked to diversity,” says Nadine Smith, Executive Director of Equality Florida, “We wish to improve Florida’s national and international reputation as a welcoming and inclusive place to live, work and visit.”

Equality Means Business was formed to spotlight major employers in Florida that have adopted comprehensive non-discrimination polices and have demonstrated their commitment to valuing and pro-actively including all employees. Membership in the Advisory Board is made up of companies and individuals who are highly respected for their commitment to creating a safe and productive work place for all individuals including providing protection regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.
